Contract Roles in Civil and Commercial Construction

Coronavirus may have sent ripples through the US engineering and construction industry, but there is reason to be optimistic despite the obvious challenges of 2020. Industrial and data center construction has come out on top, as the surge in demand for e-commerce, as well as the supporting logistics industry, continue to bolster that building sector.

In contrast, long-term revenue declines at the state and municipal levels may delay some government contracts and infrastructure investments in early 2021. However, experts at Dodge Data & Analytics anticipate that the widespread availability of a COVID-19 vaccine, in tandem with the realization of the U.S. legislature’s economic stimulus package(s), should stabilize the civil construction sector by the second half of 2021.

To meet the ever-changing needs of the civil and commercial construction industries, SitePro is seeking to fill numerous contract positions to keep our clients’ projects fully staffed. While we have a long history of staffing large-scale commercial construction projects, including logistics warehouses and data centers, we’ve now expanded our construction staffing services to focus on infrastructure and nonbuilding civil construction projects nationwide.

Civil and Commercial Construction Positions to Fill

SitePro is seeking experienced pipefitters, including journeymen, to install, modify, and/or maintain pipelines according to the specifications of our clients’ commercial and non-building construction projects. In some cases, they may also be asked to inspect, examine, or test existing pipelines for structural weakness.

Contract concrete finishers are in demand to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, sidewalks, roads, and curbs. They may also need to align forms or patch voids in existing concrete structures. Construction estimators are needed on a contract basis to calculate costs of labor and equipment for civil and commercial construction projects. By using contractor bids and project blueprints, estimators prepare budgets and estimates for these developments. They may also conduct negotiations during the subcontractor bidding process.

Project managers are integral to any construction team. We’re seeking contract PMs to plan, coordinate, budget and supervise construction projects from start to finish. The best-qualified PM candidate would have a degree in construction, in addition to several years of construction management experience. PMs require strong communication and management skills, as they interact regularly with developer clients, in addition to the field superintendents and subcontractors at the job site.

We’re also hiring highly-qualified civil engineers to design and oversee the construction of infrastructure projects and systems. This job requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or in civil engineering technology. The right candidate should be proficient in plan preparation, 3D modeling and earthwork, drainage analysis and design, as well as water/sewer design. They should also meet the requirements for licensure or registration as a professional engineer, which vary by state.
